Our Psychologists

Helen Inkster studied at Canterbury University, qualifying as a Clinical Psychologist in 1995. She is registered with the New Zealand Psychologists Board and is a Fellow of the New Zealand College of Clinical Psychologists.

Helen is also an accredited Case Consultant and Training Facilitator with the EMDRNZ, and has used EMDR as a treatment modality since 1997. 

 Helen has worked in many fields including privately, contracting and in the public sector with adults and adolescents.

Helen has maintained a private practice in Nelson for 28 years. She has a specific interested in working with trauma, anxiety and stress. She is keen to work with professionals to maintain their own wellness, in particular, the prevention of burnout. 

Helen has a practical, down to earth style, and works well with people from all walks of life.  As an accredited practitioner in EMDR  (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing) this is Helen's preferred intervention therapy.  She is also experienced in using cognitive behavioural techniques, incorporating Acceptance and Commitment Therapy. 


Qualifications:

BA (Psychology), MA (Honours, Psychology), Diploma in Clinical Psychology, FNZCCP, Case Consultant and Training Facilitator with EMDRNZ. 



Daiane Coelho is a Registered Psychologist with the New Zealand Psychologist Board and a member of the New Zealand Psychological Society. She has experience working in both the public health system with youth and their families, and with adults in community-based services. Daiane is originally from Brazil and completed extensive clinical training in her country of origin before moving to Aotearoa New Zealand 7 years ago. Daiane speaks fluent English, Portuguese and sound understanding of Spanish. 

Daiane employs a relational psychodynamic approach, drawing from attachment theory, trauma-informed care, and evidence-based therapies such as EMDR and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy. Her professional training and experience have led her to develop a deep appreciation for the therapeutic relationship with her clients, offering a space where individuals feel safe to explore the most vulnerable parts of their life story and their present conflicts.

In recent years, Daiane’s interest has gravitated towards the overlapping body of knowledge between psychology and neurobiology. This area of study helps us understand how the brain functions and what supports change during therapy. Some authors she enjoys reading and learning from include Bessel van der Kolk, Dan Siegel, Pat Ogden, and others.

Daiane works in private practice with adults who face challenges such as anxiety, depression, and parenting difficulties. She is passionate about supporting people living with symptoms of trauma in finding their authentic path to wellness.


Qualifications : 


BA (Psychology), PostGDip in Mental Health Specialty, currently completing Basic Training in EMDR.
